The West library welcomed three authors on February 25 during all advisory hours. Some students even won autographed books in a raffle and got to interact or ask questions to the authors. .
During 3rd hour, Valerie Bromann, the author of The Road Trip Journal & Activity Book: Everything You Need to Have and Record an Epic Road Trip!, shared her writing and publishing process, as well as unique stories about her fun travels. Bromann created the web site Silly America, which documents the more bizarre things you might find while exploring the US. Her travels are also documented on social media.
During 4th hour, The New York Times bestselling author Neal Shusterman was the highlight of the day. Lincoln-Way West was one of the virtual stops on his book tour for his new book All Better Now. Shusterman’s books have been popular choices for students at West for years and Scythe is always in the top 10 most popular books at this school. His books are frequently featured on the Illinois State Library’s Read for a Lifetime book list.
Chicago author, Brendan Greeley, was the third author of the day speaking to advisory students during 5th and 6th hours. He shared interesting stories about the background of his book Secret Pizza: A Midwestern Fairlytale. Besides writing, Greeley is known for being a Chicago radio co-host and is currently one of the hosts of The Steve Dahl Podcast . He spoke fondly of his visit to West on a recent episode.
West Library hopes to bring more authors to the school in the future.
