Lynnae Ryan, Spanish Teacher
How long have you worked at West? How long in the district?
I have taught in the LW district since the fall of 1994. I have been at West since it opened.
What is your favorite memory of working at West?
I have lots of memories because both my children graduated from West. My son graduated in 2018. My daughter graduated in 2020. I loved the video that West made to welcome the students who were transferring from Central. I loved the 2019-2020 girls basketball season when they went to State. Who knew how much life would change that 2020 year.
Why do you like working at West?
West has this small but mighty attitude. Just when people count us out, we step up and show them the true spirit of being Warriors. We are like a family.
What is something that students would be surprised to find out about you?
I have lived in numerous different states and in Mexico.
Do you have any embarrassing teaching moments you are willing to share?
Years ago, we were doing one of the spirit weeks where we dress in different themes each day. Well I thought that it was “HAT” day, so I wore a hat to school. Right before first hour another teacher told me that I had the wrong day. All day long I was left dealing with “HAT” hair. How embarrassing!
Why is West the best?
We are a smaller school where you can get to know a lot of people without it being overwhelming in size. There are lots of opportunities to get involved!
What is your favorite dish from the cafeteria?
I am a big fan of the soup and salad combination!
If you worked at West the first year the school opened, what are your memories from that year?
That first year was great! Everything was brand new! It was our chance to start the traditions and leave a legacy. Years later I kept hearing upper classmen tell lower classmen…”we don’t do that here!” I love that!
What sports or activities do you sponsor? What do you like about them? Why do you do it?
I used to coach girls basketball. We used to have separate language clubs and I sponsored the Spanish Club. I am currently the International Club sponsor.
