Homecoming this year was arguably one of the best. We kicked off the week of festivities with the homecoming Olympics, which was a blast. Many students put together teams with a creative name and outfit to come participate in the fun. We competed in themed events, such as a lollipop relay and trivia. The annual tug-of-war tournament was a huge hit as always. Participants and spectators were in for a huge treat, as Student Council sponsored West’s first-ever fireworks show during the event. The enthusiasm from Monday night held high throughout the week as students competed in the class clash and participated in spirit days such as Tropical Tuesday and Barbie Day. Thursday’s assembly added to the high spirits with singing, a relay race, an obstacle course, some awesome guitar, and coach Gavin’s basketball skills. We even had some teachers showing off their dance moves! By Friday, the excitement for the weekend was undeniable among the school. On Saturday night, Westside showed their incredible outfits and dance moves. Some students even went up on stage! Although it was sad to see such and amazing week go, Home Sweet Homecoming was oh so sweet and a huge success! Senior Katelyn Kundys said her favorite moment from homecoming was “all the cool treats in the cafeteria throughout the week. My favorite was Crumbl Cookie.” Kayte Swedko said, “My favorite moment was seeing the surprise fireworks while listening to my favorite songs. Lincoln-Way West feels like home.” A final thought came from Shane Skrbec who said, “I had the best time at the Westside’s tail gate and color toss. I got my own personal pizza!”
