Lincoln-Way West Library held a Taylor Swift event in conjunction with the release of her new movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Students created friendship bracelets from a variety of materials while listening to her music. The announcement read, “…Ready for it? You know all too well that you want to make a friendship bracelet in the library this Friday. Just fill in the blank space on the online form or on the pass from your advisory teacher. But act swiftly because there are only 87 spots.”
Students were also given a survey about Taylor Swift. Out of the 33 respondents, 29 were Taylor Swift fans, 12 attended the concert, 26 saw the movie or planned to see it, and 24 believe that the relationship between Taylor and Travis Kelce will last. When asked about their favorite songs, students could not agree on a clear winner, although “All Too Well” and “Our Song” each had several votes. Some students reported that they could not possibly choose a favorite, since they were all so good. Other best songs included “Snow on the Beach,” “Exile,” “I Wish You Would,” “Back to December,” “Tolerate It,” and “Dress.”
When asked if there was anything else students would like to add about Taylor Swift, her music, and the library day, one student proclaimed, “Absolutely love it all. Let’s make Taylor Swift day every day.” Others commented on the event with remarks such as,
“Love Taylor and love friendship bracelet day.,” and “I loved listening to her songs all day. I think we should do it more often.” As for Taylor, students proclaimed, “She is such an inspirational person.,” and “She’s precious and her music is spectacular.”
