The Lincoln-Way West Spring Musical is bringing ABBA hits to the stage this year with Mamma Mia! This beloved musical tells the story of Sophie Sheridan, played by senior May Frank, who is a young woman preparing for her wedding while searching for the identity of her father. By secretly sending invitations to three potential dads – without telling her mother, Donna, played by senior Abby Hamilton – Sophie hopes to unearth her true identity as well as have someone to walk her down the aisle. However, when Donna discovers that her three ex-lovers have all arrived to attend the wedding, everything becomes complicated as old feelings resurface and everyone tries to figure out the truth.

For many cast members, Mamma Mia! is more than just another show; it’s a dream come true. Zoë Kyriacopoulos, who plays Ali, one of Sophie’s bridesmaids, explains: “Mamma Mia is one of my favorite musicals of all time, so getting to be a part of it my junior year is beyond exciting! The rehearsal process has been so fun and this show feels unlike any we’ve done before. It’s been a great experience and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on!”
Senior Ginny Frank, who plays Lisa, Sophie’s other bridesmaid, also expressed her eagerness for the production. “This show is super high energy and so far the choreography has been super fun to perform! The entire cast is working so hard to put on a thrilling performance and I think everyone is doing great. Rehearsals have been amazing; everyone is so talented and fun to be around. I am so happy I have such a great group of people to spend my final West musical with!”
This year’s production features a new choreographer, who brings a fresh vision and energy to the stage. With iconic numbers like “Dancing Queen” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight),” audiences can expect exciting choreography that perfectly matches the show’s lively, feel-good vibe. Senior Abby Hamilton echoed the enthusiasm surrounding the production: “I’m so excited for this show because it’s so fun and a fan favorite!”
For senior May Frank, portraying Sophie in her final high school production makes the experience especially meaningful. “I could not be more grateful to have Mamma Mia as my senior show. All the themes of growing up hit really close to home and getting to do all of this with some of my closest friends makes it all the more special. Each song is like a dance party and everyone’s passion is going to make this an amazing show!”
In addition to the incredible cast and choreographer, the crew, pit orchestra, and directors have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this vibrant production to life. Abby Hamilton remarks, “I greatly appreciate the amount of time and effort all the directors and the choreographer are putting into the show!!” Their dedication and passion are evident in every rehearsal, building anticipation for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of performances.
Mamma Mia! will take the stage on April 10 at 7:00 p.m., April 11 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and April 12 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets will be available soon at lwwmusic.org or by scanning the QR codes on the posters around school. But be quick, because this show is expected to sell out!
