Getting outside is one of the best ways to relax and recharge yourself, no matter what time of the year it is. Each season has its own activities to offer, its own opportunities to take, and its own adventures to have. The only thing that matters is how you make the most of it.
Let’s start with the green season of spring! As the cold starts to taper, and the snow fades, spring offers the perfect chance to get back out and explore the outdoors. You could always take a nice hike through Starved Rock, or even keep it calm on Old Plank Trail. The key is to enjoy and embrace the gift of the nice green grass that’s been hidden from the snow. Just don’t forget your umbrella because you might get wet!
Next up we have the hot months of summer. Summer is made for action. No school, no teachers, and no homework to get in our way. The only thing stopping us could be a job. Other than that, you have nothing but time on your hands to head on over to the beach to swim, play some volleyball, or even bury your best friend in sand! If you prefer something more adrenaline-inducing, try out mountain biking on a nice rocky trail. Maybe even go off the grid and spend a weekend in the forest camping. Splashing around of some water skis or going tubing are always good ways to cool off too.
Thirdly, we have the cool, crisp autumn air to test yourself. Hit some steep trails or go for a long bike ride. Maybe even sharpen up your hunting skill while the deer go about their ways in the forest if that’s your thing. This is also a great time to go fishing, as the water isn’t too hot, chop up some wood for a nice bonfire, or roast some marshmallows. And with harvest time being in full swing, there’s no better time to swing by the pumpkin patch and pick your pumpkin to carve.
Next, the good ole season of winter. Winter is one of those things where you’re never prepared enough for. It’s always nice to take a weekend to ski down the slopes in Colorado if you want to unleash the primal beast that rests within you, find a remote location in the mountainous ranges in Alaska, and start a camp from scratch. Just don’t forget your gloves, waterproof clothing, and a nice Carhartt jacket.
Don’t forget that there’s always something to do throughout the year. Even if you don’t want to go outside, there’s other things to do; read a book, go see a movie, or take your dog for a walk. The main point is, own every season and grow as a person. It doesn’t matter if you’re swimming with the sharks, or fishing for Muskie; every season has its adventures to offer. Gear up for it and make it count.
