Which shoe brand is the most popular at LWW? Mr. Henderson’s honors biology class recently collected data to find out just that. Here are the top six brands counted and an estimate of how many of each shoe is worn throughout the school each day. 

#6: Crocs – 180 

Crocs, especially white, have majorly increased in popularity in recent years. They are appealing to many West students because of the convenience of being able to slip them on and off. However, their unconventional look and the fact that they are not suitable for too much movement in PE class and sports contributed to them coming in lower numbers than others. 

#5: Converse – 198 

Converse are not significantly more popular than Crocs, having an estimated eighteen more students wear them each day. They make it into the top five with their simple look that can go nicely with any outfit, and they may be picked up slightly more often due to qualifying as “gym shoes” for PE classes. However, Converse are seen more often on female feet at West, which contributes to them being lower on the list. Some also say that they are not the best choice for athletic purposes. 

#4: Adidas – 295 

Adidas rank higher on the list due to their appeal to athletes for their comfortability and design. Many of Adidas’ styles have a unique look, which can be a pro to some and a con to others. These shoes can be a good option for many, but they do not rank higher on the list because they are just not as “trendy” as the top three. 

#3: Birkenstock – 309 

Birkenstocks are popular because of how easy they are to slip on before school, and their simple style that goes with many types of outfits. However, especially with colder weather approaching, these open-toed shoes are not as appealing for going outdoors. 

  #2: Ugg – 328 

Uggs are a common choice because of their comfort, convenience, and trendy look. The inside of Uggs have a soft texture, and they are easy to slip on and off for daily wear.  However, the most popular shoe still beats Ugg by over double. 

#1: Nike – 684 

Nike beat Ugg as the most popular by more than double, and for good reason. They are a great choice for athletes as they offer many different types of comfortable and stylish shoes that can be worn while running, jumping, and moving around. For non-athletic purposes, Nike can still appeal to people who are simply looking for everyday trendy shoes. Between all the unique styles of Nike shoes, they have proven to be the favorite among LWW students.
