Halloween is right around the corner and costumes are flying off the shelves! Do you have your costume picked out yet? From ghosts to goblins, many costume ideas are circulating throughout the student body at West. A junior at West gave a quote about her costume for this year: ” My friend and I are doing a “rhyme without reason” theme, so I’m going as “Police” and my friend is going as “Ancient Greece”.
There are also many students still planning on going trick-or-treating this year. This has been a controversial topic within the public recently regarding what age is too old to stop trick or treating. Originating in Scotland, trick-or-treating has been around since the early 16th century. It is a well-known tradition for children around the world. Formerly known as “All Hallows Eve”, Halloween has many fun activities that come with the spooky holiday. Some of these activities are carving pumpkins into funny faces, going to haunted houses, or simply making taffy apples. All are enjoyed throughout the community.
Do you know what your town does for Halloween? Every year, New Lenox hosts the ‘Chamber of Commerce Halloween Fest’ in the commons of New Lenox. Looking for something scarier? Hop on over to HellsGate in Lockport for a scary surprise. Lincoln-Way West senior, Taylor Wright, happens to be an actor for HellsGate. Wright states, “It is a thrilling experience with a handful of great jump scares.” Taylor has been working there since 2021 and says she will continue to stay there for the foreseeable future. Hellsgate is ranked 3rd in the nation for all haunted houses, so I bet you’re in for a treat…or a trick? Happy Halloween, Warriors!
