The Lincoln-Way West Spring Musical this year is Matilda, which is the story of a smart little girl who loves to read. Matilda, played by junior Kaleigh Buda, tries her best to fight for what is right. She stands up to her parents and her school’s headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, played by senior Oliver Fennessy.
The cast, crew, pit orchestra, and especially the directors, have been diligently preparing for the show. As Nora Ader (Mum 2, Big Kid) puts it, “The Matilda directors are amazing! They work so hard to make sure the performances are the best they can be.” While the rehearsals are a lot of work, they are also super fun and you make new friends along the way. In Alexa Gilbert’s words (Ensemble), “These are the best friends you will ever meet!” Jacqueline Ramos (Children’s Entertainer and Big Kid) agrees: “Being in theater is like being in a family, where the stage is your home.”
The musical, which will be on April 19 at 7:00 p.m., April 20th at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and April 21st at 3:00 p.m., is for all ages, and many cast members have been watching them for years. Zoe Kyriacopoulos (Amanda Thripp) remarked, “Ever since I was little, I’ve come to see the Lincoln-Way West musicals. I’ve dreamed about the day I could be in one and I’m so excited to make my high school musical debut in Matilda!”
Jacob Buda (Mr. Wormwood) summed it up: “Being in the musical has been a wonderful experience! I’ve met tons of new people and I’m super excited to see how the show turns out. I would definitely recommend seeing it!” You can purchase your tickets at lwwmusic.org or scan any of the posters with the QR codes on it, but be quick, because tickets are expected to sell out!
