Gilbert may be missing an eye, but that doesn’t stop him from seeing anything he is not supposed to eat.  The doctor told us he would never be able to read, which is hard for a librarian, but we love him anyway. His favorite activities are eating, sleeping, and going for walks, although at the age of 12, he has slowed down and will only walk when the temperatures are low and the distance is short.
