A Taste of Fall
October 14, 2021
For this month’s issue I will be reviewing different fall flavors of ice cream from Dairy Queen (near 191st and LaGrange Rd. in Mokena) with former Lincoln-Way West students. As all five of us (Nick DiSandro and Joe Ott: Class of 2021, Olivia Rusch: Class of 2020, and Savanna Rusch: Class of 2017) piled into the car, we discussed the new flavors we were excited to try.
Nick got the Pecan Pie Blizzard, a treat with brown sugar pie pieces, pecan, caramel, and vanilla ice cream. Nick rated it a 7.8/10. Joe got the Reese’s Pieces Cookie Dough Blizzard, a treat with Reese’s Pieces, chocolate chip cookie dough, and peanut butter. Joe rated his blizzard a 9/10. Olivia got the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard, a classic fall favorite with real pumpkin pie pieces blended with vanilla ice cream and finished off with whip cream and nutmeg. Liv rated her ice cream a 7.4/10. Savanna got the Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Blizzard, a fall flavor with a sweet note of summer. This treat included strawberry topping and chocolate chunks. Savanna gave this blizzard the best review of the night: 10/10.
Finally, I got the Sea Salt Toffee Fudge Blizzard. This Blizzard had rich fudge pieces, salted toffee pieces, and caramel topping blended to perfection. I rated my Blizzard an 8/10. We all loved our choices and will be back for more soon.
We can’t wait for our next ice cream adventure and can’t even imagine our next exotic flavors. If you know of any fun ice cream shops, please let me know so I can try them out for the next issue!
