Senior Stories: Anwyn Perry

Rebekah Hafner

As the second semester of the school year started, I had a conversation with Anwyn Perry to talk about her senior year. Anwyn is a member of the dance team and Warrior Way.

I first asked Anwyn about what she is looking forward to after graduation and her plans for after high school. She told me that she is looking forward to starting the next chapter in her life by attending Grand Valley State University, where she plans on double-majoring and minoring in Chinese. We then started talking about school. Anwyn told me that she would miss her friends here at West, and that her favorite memory was when the 2020 dance team went to state. This year may be difficult, but there are many things to look forward to. For Anwyn, that is continuing her dance season.

I also asked her who her favorite teacher has been. She told me, “Ms. Sweeney is definitely my favorite teacher. Although I only had her as a coach, over my four years at Lincoln-Way West she has taken the time to get to know me. I will always be grateful for Ms. Sweeney and everything she has done for me.”

Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, there are many unknowns about the rest of this school year. I asked Anwyn what she thought about it. This was her response: “COVID has taken away so much from everyone. I’ve always looked forward to my senior year and for it to be taken away will always hurt. It is true what they say about living in the moment. I really don’t know what could happen for the rest of my senior year; it is unpredictable.” As a junior, I can relate to what Anwyn is saying. This school year has been a struggle, but hopefully it will get better.

Although many things about the rest of this school year are unclear, let’s hope for better days ahead. Anwyn Perry, I hope the rest of your senior year is amazing!
