Everyone’s favorite time of the month is when the hallways at Lincoln-Way West are filled with the delicious smell of hot, buttery popcorn. Teachers and students alike look forward to this savory treat not only because popcorn is tasty (after all, it is the official Illinois state snack), but also because the money raised from the sale goes to a great cause.

Did you know, the very students who run this sale are those who benefit? The popcorn sale is run by students from special services each month during lunch hours, which allows these students to interact with their peers and staff. This also helps with their communication skills and is a great way for them to gain experience in a job-like environment by dealing with money and customers. This increased sense of responsibility leads to a greater confidence and helps build character.

So, the next time you find yourself following the smell of popcorn down the hallway, make sure you stop by. For only fifty cents you can buy a fresh bag of popcorn and help out a great cause!
