Do you and your friends ever get bored over winter break? Are you looking for some fun things to do? Take the train to the city one day. You can ice skate in Millennium Park. Don’t have ice skates? No problem. Skate rental is only $12-$14. If you have your own skates, have yours sharpened for $9.  Free ice skating lessons are offered, and there is always hot chocolate and snacks available. After working up an appetite skating, head over to Macy’s and eat in the Walnut Room while gazing upon a gigantic, beautiful Christmas tree. If you do not want to dine, you can go up to the top floor and look at the tree from there. You can also see the ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo. Admission to the zoo is free. Head over to Navy Pier to take part in the Winter WonderFest. General admission tickets are only $10.

Are you looking to stay local? If so, head on down to the New Lenox Commons and walk around looking at all the lights and decorations. Stop by and see the largest illuminated Santa Claus in the United States, standing nearly 40 feet tall and covered in 18,500 LED lights.  You can also ice skate in the Commons. Skating and skate rental will only cost you $5. There are holiday markets there as well.

No matter where you go, have a fun winter break!
